Nankai University was the first Chinese higher education institution to be destroyed by Japanese airstrikes following the historic Lugou Bridge Incident (also known as the Marco Polo Incident) in 1937. Today, 80 years after the end of the World Anti-Fascist War, the rebuilt campus of Nankai University stands as one of China's most prestigious institutions of higher learning. Siyuan Hall has been restored, and the renovated Muzhai Library continues to serve generations of students. History has not been forgotten – the spirit of resilience and conviction endures.
